After completing her PhD in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Development at the London School of Economics, with financial assistance from Wingate Scholarships, in 1990, Mayuri went on to work for the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. There she worked in the area of ICT-policy formulation for Commonwealth Countries. She helped IDC launch the magazine "PC World Africa" on which she later became an editor. In 1992 she got a job offer from the National University of Singapore, where she taught for a year in the Computer Science department. She quit this job to join her husband in Germany where working as a freelance consultant in the area of ICT for development for 3 years before having her first child. In 1995 she moved to Bangalore, India, because of her husband's work, and whilst there worked at the Indian Institute of Management before having her second child. In 1999 she moved back to Germany where she again worked as a freelance consultant for 6 years. For the past 2 years, Mayuri has been living with her family in Tokyo and has set up her own consultancy. Her current project is with a development related NGO.
