The Wingate Scholarship I received in 2005 helped me complete the archival research for my PhD concerning the work of Patrick Geddes, a Scottish town planner, across the British Empire. I have since submitted my thesis, which relies on extensive research in the British Library and in the Public Records Office, the National Library of Scotland and personal collections at Strathclyde University, Glasgow as well as in various national and local archives in Israel.
I have presented my research in various conferences including the Royal Geographical Society in London, 2005 and the bi-annual conference of the International Association for the History of Town Planning in New Delhi, India, 2006. I am currently working on three different papers and am about to submit a book proposal, all based on my research.
I am now extending my research on Geddes while being affiliated to the University of Edinburgh as an academic visitor. Next Year I will be employed by Queen Mary College, University of London on research relating to my specific interests in town planning and the British Empire.
Thank you for making all this possible.
