After receiving my doctorate in 2002 on the history of psychiatry and psychoanalysis, I took a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford for a couple of years. From 2004 until 2007, I taught modern South Asian History at Tufts, in Boston, Mass until I was appointed as a University Lecturer in History and a Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, UK. I have published articles on race, sexuality, and nationalism and selfhood in various journals including *Past and Present*, *Modern Asian Studies* and I edited a special issue on India for the journal *Modern Intellectual History*.
I am currently completing a book manuscript which is a substantially revised and elaborated version of the doctoral thesis entitled *Governments of the Mind: The Self and its Sciences in Modern India*.
