Website: Visit (opens in a new window)My Wingate scholarship enabled me to write the world's first cultural history and contemporary survey of literary managers and dramaturgs: 'Dramaturgy: A Revolution in Theatre' (Cambridge, 2006). I have since become a Professor of Drama at the University of York and recently won a National Teaching Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy for outstandingly original contributions to the research and teaching of acting, writing and directing in the UK. I regularly direct plays and am currently completing a book on the playwright Caryl Churchill.
