When I received my scholarship I was employed as a Probation Officer with West Yorkshire Probation Area. Since I completed my Post Graduate Studies my research has been utilised within a number of programme development initiatives within Probation and with allied agencies. I was fortunate to be promoted to Senior Probation Officer in Leicestershire & Rutland Probation Area. In 2005 I was elected as National Chair of the Assoc. of Black Probation Officers (ABPO). I continue this role until March 2008; my role requires me to represent our members at a senior strategic level within the Home Office, National Offenders Management Service (NOMS) and the National Probation Service. The role presents many challenges and likewise many successes.
