Naresh Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, University of Iowa, Iowa City and an Adjunct Faculty in the Population Studies and Training Center at Brown University, Providence, RI. He received his PhD degree from the University of Durham, UK. His research focuses on public health and environment, the effect of environmental regulation on the time space dynamics of air pollution and its effect, in turn, on respiratory health and innovative methods to examine spatial dependency and causality in environmental contaminants and health outcomes. His current NIH funded projects evaluate short- and long-term respiratory health effect of air pollution in Delhi (India) and its environs. He is also working on estimating air pollution from satellite data at high-spatial temporal resolutions to study low birth weight and mortality in Chicago and public health related issues, such as prevalence of obesity/overweight and child and old age disability in the US.
