Halleli Pinson gained her PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2004. Her PhD dissertation focused on the official discourse of citizenship education in Israel and the construction of civic identities among young people from diverse groups. In September 2004 she took a post-doctoral fellowship at Haifa University. Her prime aim was to use this fellowship to develop the research on citizenship education in Israel and to establish herself as a scholar in that field. In June 2005 together with Prof. Hanan Alexander from the Centre for Jewish Education at Haifa University and the Van-Leer Jerusalem Institute, she organized the International Conference on Citizenship Education in Conflict-Ridden Societies. In 2005 she also became a research fellow at the Van-Leer Jerusalem Institute where she co-chairs the institute’s research group on citizenship education in Israel. Recently she received a lectureship position at the Department of Education at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
